Sejong University and Stuviser Co-host the 5th International Education Forum (SIEF)

(Popcorn News = Park Ye-eun Reporter) Sejong University (President Eom Jong-hwa) announced on the 22nd that it successfully hosted the "SIEF 5th International Education Forum" at its Gwanggaeto Hall Convention Center in collaboration with global education company Stuviser, aiming to strengthen expertise in the recruitment and management of international students.
Experts from national university international offices, external affairs offices, international education centers, Korean language education centers, and embassies in Korea participated in the event to explore the future direction of international student recruitment and management. At the forum, experts delivered various presentations on attracting and managing international students.
Additionally, Kim Young-jae, Vice President of International Affairs at Yeungnam University, spoke on “The Status and Strategies of Attracting International Students at Regional Universities,” Kim Bo-kyung, Vice President of International Affairs at Hanyang University, shared “Student Recruitment and Management Know-How Through Global Education Companies,” and Kim Joong-seop, Director of the International Education Center at Kyung Hee University, discussed “The Status and Future of Korean Language Education and International Students.”
Yang Gil-jun, CEO of Stuviser, remarked, “This forum, an extension of the K-Conference that began in 2011, brought together over 80 domestic university international department representatives and international education experts from more than 30 countries. It provided practical direction for the government's goal of attracting 300,000 international students by 2027, focusing on admission, management, and support.”
Han Jeong-hoon, Team Leader of Sejong University’s One-Stop Service Center, emphasized, “This forum was an opportunity to discuss how Sejong University can strategically contribute to achieving the government’s international student recruitment goals. Sejong University will continue to support international students with global competency infrastructure and systematic management systems to ensure their success in academics and career development.” Sejong University has set a goal of attracting 6,000 international students and is preparing various support measures in line with the government’s policy to expand international student recruitment.
These efforts have been reflected in global university rankings, with Sejong University ranked 201-250 in the 2025 THE World University Rankings, 396th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, and 241st in the 2024-2025 U.S. News World University Rankings.
The 6th SIEF International Education Forum will be held on May 15, 2025, and the 7th Forum will be held on November 16, 2025, at Sejong University’s Gwanggaeto Hall Convention Center. Korean university officials and embassy staff from various countries can participate for free.
